Silicon Protocol

     

Raw unrefined plant foods tend to be higher than processed foods in Silicon

      

Silicon, considered as an essential trace (See Alfalfa Protocol) element, is the second most abundant element next to oxygen on earth’s crust. Silicon is especially important for the development of strong bones and tissues, arteries, tendons, and cartilage. Silicon is required for the formation of collagen (See Collagen Protocol) in bone, elastin, cartilage and other connective tissues. It is also important for making the collagen matrix structure, where calcium (See Calcium Protocol) deposits are used for building and strengthening tissues and bones. Silicon is required for proper integrity of skin (See Skin Protection Protocol). While no studies have been done examining the effects of silicon on osteoarthritis, deficiencies have been linked to osteoporosis. Silicon is an essential element in chondroitin (See Chondroitin Protocol), as well as a requirement for proper growth of cartilage.

Silica is an important chelator (See Chelation Protocol) of many toxic substances such as aluminum. Silica will chelate many biologic toxins within your body.

Raw unrefined plant foods tend to be higher than processed foods in Silicon. Good food sources of Silicon are apples, beets, cucumbers, green leafy vegetables, beer and whole grains.

    

A Good Wild Source of Silicon

If you hike you will run across the very unique primitive plant horsetail grass, usually on wet ground. Chewing the soft tissue found in the joints between the segments of the plant provides a tasty serving of silica. The segments are said to be poisonous. I have been eating the joints for forty years. The abrasive segments are good for cleaning chores such as pots and pans and your teeth.
