Most Fruits are rich sources
of (vitamin C), the flavonoids (See Flavonoid Protocol) that aid its absorption
and antioxidants See Antioxidant Protocol in addition to
other vitamins, minerals and MANY other healthful
substances. Please remember most
of the healthy constituents of the fruit are stored in the seeds and the skin. The seeds must usually be crushed somehow or chewed
to release their nutrients. Berries especially dark blue, purple and black are
concentrated nutrition. Berries with large amounts of relatively soft easily
chewed seeds deliver a nutritional punch, IF you chew or crush and eat
the seeds.
Commercial fruit juices

Fruit Juice Protocol are loaded with harmful substances and you should IMO eat
the fresh fruit instead. Even home made juice which avoids most of the
commercial problems should be limited as it delivers a large amount of sugar in
a short time. This is not good unless you are in glucose deficit. The fiber in
whole fruit slows the release of glucose. As good as whole nutritious
fruits are, vegetables can be much better and should be eaten in vastly greater
amounts than fruit. Fruits are often said to be best eaten by themselves and not
together with non-fruit proteins, fats and carbs. A large fresh fruit salad is
ambrosia.
People with diabetes,
pre-diabetes, candida and some
other conditions sensitive to blood sugar may have to restrict high sugar
fruits. I usually eat my bananas green for this reason.
