Your WEIGHT is Very IMPORTANT for Your Overall Health 

Being over 20% or so above your optimal weight is harmful for MANY aspects of your health provided of course this weight is fat not muscle.

 

This protocol will introduce you to some of the most important aspects of getting your weight back to ideal or thereabouts. There is no magic bullet to losing weight but IMO the dozen or so topics covered in this protocol will get you on the track.

 

Please read the research paragraphs and follow the links to research that interests you. KNOWLEDGE is your most important friend when it comes to health and weight. Developing an academic interest in your health will IMO pay you big dividends.

    

Why most Diets do not Work

When you go on a low fat diet or a low calorie diet, your body hoards its fat. It then becomes increasingly harder to lose fat. This is one reason why many diets and exercise programs don’t result in body fat loss. To lose weight you must not starve yourself. One of the most astounding things I have learned in my 70 plus years is that to lose weight I have to eat plenty of good fat.

Complicated diets or diets that focus on a single food or food category almost never work.  You soon grow sick of eating an extremely limited diet. Complications are generally not a good idea when it comes to eating. The act of putting food in your mouth is extremely simple. The only questions are what, when and how much.

    

What Works

IMO what you need is a few simple principals to guide your eating. You want the principals to be part of your healthy lifestyle; you want these principals to be lifetime guides. Follow these principals and you can eat thousands of good foods when ever you are hungry. In fact only eating when you are hungry works well. You are NOT on a "diet". You are eating as an informed human being who knows what and when to eat.

If you give your body good nourishing often raw food and use the techniques in this protocol your body will be happy and not pester you with hunger pains; and your body will adjust its weight to your optimal. Please note that if your body requires critical nutrients you will remain hungry and pestered no matter how many empty calories you stuff down.

        

Your Thyroid is Important

   

“Some physicians believe that most people over 40 have a subclinical thyroid deficiency that contributes to their weight gain.”   Bemben et al  

    

Research strongly suggests that an under active thyroid might be the number one cause of weight problems, especially among women. There are many reasons we tend to put on weight as we age. Like arthritis losing weight is a problem with many dozens of answers. You need not solve each and every problem but you must address the most important and solve or obviate most.

   

     

Rapid Weight Gain can be a Blessing

Your body has a wonderful ability to pack on thirty to fifty pounds in a few months. Many of our ancestors used to do this every fall. Without this stored energy we might not make it thru a long lean winter. Eat lots of refined carbs and your body thinks you are getting ready for a long winter. Refined carbs in white bread, flour and processed foods, require large amounts of insulin (See Insulin Protocol). When you consume good fat and protein your body will feel its okay to start burning off your fat because you have let your blood insulin levels fall to zero.

    

You MUST eat GOOD Food

Everything else you do will be of no avail if you eat CRAP!

      

Please realize eating processed "food" and being overweight often go hand in hand. It takes some doing to start to prepare most of your meals at home from scratch with raw food but trying to lose weight eating processed food is like fighting with one or both arms tied behind your back.

       

Your goal is to reduce the insulin in your blood to ZERO during EXERCISE

“Medium chain fatty acids (As in Cocoanut oil) are rapidly burned as energy and actually promote the burning of long chain fatty acids (As in body fat stores).”   Baba et al

“As compared to those with normal insulin levels individuals with a consistently elevated insulin level, had a 36 fold increase in the prevalence of obesity.” Bao et al 1996

“Losing weight will immediately shift your body’s response to insulin and melt away the glycosylation.” Doctor Mehmet Oz

Research reveals that your body can only burn your fat stores when there is no insulin in your blood, Your body cannot be both storing fat and burning fat: its one or the other. When you eat carbs you force your insulin into your blood stream to store fat. Eating fats and proteins require NO INSULIN.

Your goal is to reduce the insulin in your blood to ZERO; only then can your fat stores be burned. Eating a little good medium chain fatty acid like cocoanut oil with every meal or snack will supply immediate energy without using insulin. We often eat carbs for immediate energy if we substitute cocoanut oil or other medium chain fatty acid for the carbs we can generate immediate energy to exercise and burn our fat stores. So the path to weight loss is clear, if you want to burn your body fat stores, the only way to lose weight, you MUST have NO insulin in your blood stream during your workout. Let’s say you want to workout after you quit work. Have a big breakfast and lunch. After work eat some saturated fat, perhaps a couple of spoons of cocoanut oil as an energy snack. The medium chain fatty acids will give you plenty of immediate energy for your workout without using ANY insulin. There will be NO INSULIN in your bloodstream and your body will be free to burn its fat stores.
