Rheumatoid Arthritis Protection Protocol

    

“Researchers in England discovered that patients with chronic pain have phenomenally low vitamin D levels.” Ann Rheum Dis. 2005 Aug;64(8):1217-9. 

“Several human diseases are inflammatory in nature, including asthma, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, tendonitis, bursitis, laryngitis, gingivitis, gastritis, otitis, celiac disease (gluten intolerance), diverticulitis (infection of the diverticula in the colon), and inflammatory bowel disease. "A daily dose of vitamin B-6 at the current upper tolerable levels may reduce amounts of inflammatory compounds in people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, a new study says. “A high homocysteine level is also associated with Alzheimer's disease, as well as depression, multiple sclerosis, menopausal symptoms, and rheumatoid arthritis. Homocysteine is formed naturally when protein is broken down. Too much of it causes oxidative damage to the endothelium. Oxidative damage is caused by free radicals--byproducts of the body's normal processes that can damage body tissues. In fact, the risk for heart disease triples when the homocysteine blood level exceeds 15.8 umol/L - a reading still considered by many to be within the "normal” range (The optimum target should be under 8 umol/L). Worse yet, the odds of heart disease are directly proportional to the homocysteine concentration. Rheumatoid Arthritis

RA often has roots in auto-immune disease and/or inflammation. Please make sure you have done all you can to resolve these two problems most of us suffer to one degree or another. Doctor Bob Martin states of the thousands of RA patients he has treated almost ALL have an underlying infection producing condition. Make sure your digestion process is working well. Some RA has been traced back to low stomach acid.

   

Skeletal Fluorosis Masquerading as RA

Mycoplasma and RA

IMO if you have had a serious case of RA please get checked for mycoplasma. It is quire possible mycoplasma may be at least part of your problem. If you do have the mycoplasma not solving your mycoplasma problem will in all probability make solving your RA problem impossible.

Vitamin C and RA

“Foods high in vitamin C protect against a type of RA called inflammatory polyarthritis, a condition in which two or more joints are affected. According to another study of 20,000 people who didn’t eat very many vitamin C-rich foods, researchers found they had 300% more arthritis than those who ate the most.”   Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases

     

Vitamin D and RA

The simple primal act of getting LOTS of the high noon sun on your bare “unprotected” skin in large amounts just may be the most important single thing you can do for your health. If the sun casts a shadow longer than you are tall you cannot make adequate vitamin D from the sun. You MUST take vitamin D3 at the daily rate of about 1000 IU/20 pounds of body weight.

Researchers conducted genetic analysis and found that vitamin D interacts with genes for such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, and multiple sclerosis as well as colorectal cancer. Deficiency in the vitamin was linked to development of the diseases.”   Genome Research

It is very possible your RA problems may be cured or greatly helped by getting your vitamin D levels up to say 85 ng/ml. This is NOT hard to do IMO use the sun if possible and UVB tanning beds or vitamin D3 capsules otherwise.

With ANY serious health problem IMO you MUST get your vitamin D levels up to at least 65 ng/ml. This is a MUST.

Fish Oil and RA

Clinical trials have shown that fish oil supplementation is effective in the treatment of many disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, and Reynaud’s disease.”    Fish and Fish Oil

“In healthy humans and in people with rheumatoid arthritis fish oil suppresses several inflammatory factors by up to 90%.”    James et al

Fish oil has also proven to be beneficial in autoimmune joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). While fish oil supplementation has not been used in clinical trials for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis, it may be beneficial in treating this condition, which has many similarities to RA, including a common underlying inflammatory mechanism and immune dysfunction.” Michael Traub, ND, and Keri Marshall MS, ND

The recommended daily intake of EPA plus DHA is about 650 mg rising to 1000 mg/day during pregnancy and lactation. Clinical trials have used anywhere from 1 g/day to 10 g/day, but little additional benefit has been observed at levels above 5 g/day of EPA and DHA combined. The benefits of therapeutic supplementation may become evident in a few weeks when blood parameters (triglycerides, fibrinogen) are involved, but may take 3 months or longer to materialize in degenerative diseases like atherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. So many people with RA have been helped by fish oil it is foolish not to try taking this simple supplement. Fish oil is an important anti-inflammatory and addresses auto-immune issues making it a natural for RA.
