Omega 6 EFA Protocol
“Traditional diets contain nearly equal amounts of omega-6 and
omega-3 essential fatty acids.” Weston A. Price Foundation
“It appears GLA is a very potent blood-pressure-lowering
nutrient.”
Engler et al “Series 2 prostaglandins that
the body makes from arachidonic acid both encourage and inhibit inflammation
under appropriate circumstances. Arachidonic acid is vital for the function of
the brain and nervous system.” Price-Pottenger
Nutrition Foundation Journal 20:3 “Over consumption of
high Glycemic Index foods leading to a high level of insulin can produce a high
level of inflammatory arachidonic acid.” Kreisberg et al, Note it's
not the arachidonic acid that is the problem “A higher omega 3 EFA to
omega 6 EFA ratio may reduce the risk of breast cancer especially in
pre-menopausal women.”
Goodstine et al, Note more Omega 3 and/or
less Omega 6 “Animal
fats contain many nutrients that protect against cancer and heart disease;
elevated rates of cancer and heart disease are associated with consumption of
large amounts of vegetable oils.” Fed Proc July 1978 37:2215 “Reducing
dietary vegetable oils and increasing the omega-3 fats EPA and docosahexaenoic
acid (DHA) by consuming fatty fish such as cod, salmon, mackerel, and sardines
can benefit individuals experiencing chronic inflammatory conditions.” Adam O et al “Dietary
polyunsaturated fatty acids of the omega 6 class found in corn oil and
safflower oil may be involved in the development of breast cancer, where as
long chain omega 3 PUFAs found in fish oil can inhibit breast cancer.”
Bagga et al “To reach optimal health,
the ratio of omega 3s to omega 6s should be close to 1:1. When omega-6 fats
predominate in your diet, as is common in the “People who consume
higher amounts of vegetable oils (corn oil, soybean oil, safflower oil, etc.)
lose their vision 3.8 times faster, and have twice the risk of macular
degeneration.” Doctor Paul Beaumont
"Grass-fed beef is best because this is the food nature intended the cattle to eat—not the grains they are forced to consume. Their EFA structure is drastically unbalanced with grain and much more balanced with grass. However, if you choose a nutritional supplement, you can counteract this effect and eat all the grain-fed beef you desire." Doctor Brian Peskin PhD, Note IMO not quite all, there is still the toxic additives issue and MANY people over cook thus denaturing the omega 6 however Brian's point is the omega 6s in beef are undenatured "AA (arachadonic acid) is a critical omega-6 derivative and major biochemical component which occurs in virtually every cell we have. It is the building block of the most potent anti-aggretory (“helps blood thinning”) agent known, termed prostacyclin. AA also inhibits platelet adhesion making it a natural “blood thinner.” AA even helps SOLVE vascular problems as a response to injury." Doctor Brian Peskin PhD
"If there is
insufficient unprocessed parent omega-6, experiment shows that the
cholesterol structure will incorporate oleic acid (nonessential omega-9)
instead. Physical-chemical experiments
show that linoleic acid (parent omega-6) can bind twice as much oxygen and
disassociates at a much higher pressure, much closer to hemoglobin, than
oleic acid does. Oxygen disassociation curves for oleic acid compared with
linoleic acid, omega-6, show a 50% reduction in oxygen transfer, given EFA
deficiency. With insufficient functional parent omega-6, you will easily
surpass the 35% cancer-causing threshold!"
"Health practitioners often suggest you use no additional parent omega-6 and that instead you use supplements exclusively with parent omega-3. This is incorrect because the omega-6 we do consume in our foods is highly processed, harmful and often loaded with cancer-causing transfats. You need the additional pure parent omega-6 to compensate for this. Because the parent EFAs are so much more effective than EFA derivatives, you need a much lower total quantity than other formulations."
"Since LA is an essential fatty acid, the form in which
it is ingested is critical. In the past several decades, processed foods—in
particular, frozen foods and restaurant cooking oils—have increasingly
incorporated trans fats and other unhealthy fats and oils. Moreover, when
heated in air, the LA in these oils changes to hydroperoxides, which are
biochemically damaging to the body. This results in less functional LA for
incorporation into cell membranes."
" If there is a deficiency of fully functional LA in the diet, the body will substitute into cell membranes a nonessential fatty acid, such as oleic acid (omega-9) found in olive oil. This forced substitution results in a marked decrease of cellular oxygen transport with adverse effects on cellular metabolism and function, including possible chronic hypoxia in the heart leading to potential myocardial dysfunction.""LDL-C, the transport
vehicle for PEFA delivery into the cell, will transport any kind of
LA—defective or not—into cells, including oxidized or trans entities. So,
while statins do reduce the amount of LDL-C, thereby automatically reducing
the amount of nonfunctional parent omega-6 from processed food that reaches
cell membranes, they simultaneously lower the transport of vital oxygenating
functional PEFAs into cells. In fact, over a 24-week period in which
patients were given 40 mg daily of simvastatin, mean serum omega-3 levels
dropped 34%, and omega-6 levels dropped 28%; both highly significant
amounts."
"What if the cholesterol structure in the arterial intima contained significant amounts of oxidized or nonfunctional parent omega-6 attributable largely to ingestion of foods containing LA oxidized or otherwise damaged in the course of routine food processing, before any in vivo oxidation? We know that the intima consists of a single layer of endothelial cells containing significant LA, but no ALA. Consumed, processed LA deposited in arterial intimal cell membranes leads to abnormal oxidation at the vascular injury site, thus causing injurious inflammation. In this case, abnormal oxidation involves formation of a hydroperoxide from LA. What else could cause LA in the endothelial cells to become oxidized? Could significant amounts of LA already defective from routine food processing transported by LDL-C be the real culprit?" Doctor Brian Peskin PhD, Note ALA is omega 3 EFA. IMO Brian has nailed the initial break in the endothelial layer it is from the oxidized processed omega 6 we are consuming by the 100,000s of tons. The endothelial cells are constructed with this inferior fat. This is an IMMENSE breakthrough
"Gerhard Spiteller, who has investigated EFAs and
their degradation products—specifically, the influence of these substances
in mammalian physiology—concluded that consumption of oxidized
PUFA-cholesterol esters is responsible for the initial damage to endothelial
cells and that cholesterol oxidation products are incorporated into LDL-C in
the liver. LDL carries these toxic compounds into the endothelial walls
where they cause cell damage, and thus injury is not caused by an increase
in free cholesterol but by an increase in oxidized cholesterol esters."
"Substantial evidence that omega-6 oils powerfully induce inflammation and
immune suppression when consumed in large amounts. Those eating a Western diet
are consuming 50-fold higher amounts of this type of oil (called linoleic acid)
than needed for health. These oils include corn, safflower, sunflower, canola,
peanut and soybean oils. So, we see that the average child is exposed to a
number of substances in their food and environment that can also alter immunity,
making them not only more susceptible to natural infection, but also to vaccine
complications."
Omega-6 EFA Omega 6 EFA is required for
life. Omega 6 EFA is described as an oxygen magnet. It will draw oxygen to
itself. If your cell membrane has abundant Omega 6 EFA oxygen will cluster
around the cell and be drawn into the cell. Once inside the cell the oxygen is
attracted to the cell wall from the INSIDE thus each of your 100 trillion cells
respires and is protected by an oxygen barrier. Many pathogens and disease
processes are thus foiled in their attack on the cell. Omega 6 EFAs are
denatured and rendered unfit for consumption when heated (See Cooking Protocol)
above about 300 F.
IMO attempt to get equal amounts of good
omega 3 EFA and good omega 6 EFA in your diet.
Omega-6 EFA exists as
Lots of modern "foods" contain omega 6 EFA our
problem is most of these foods are not fit to eat. For example most of the oils in the supermarket
(See
Supermarket Oils Protocol) contain adulterated omega 6 EFAs most of these are
not fit for human or animal consumption (See Polyunsaturated Oils Protocol). Many
processed foods (See Processed Food Protocol) contain adulterated omega 6 EFA
we should avoid these. Fast foods (See Fast Food Protocol) are loaded with
perfectly AWFUL types of adulterated omega 6 EFAs. Omega-6 EFA from Grain Fed Animals Grain feed animals
(See Meat
Protocol) and their products also contain omega 6 EFA.
Omega 6 EFAs MUST be balanced with
Omega 3 EFAs “Recognizing the unique
benefits of EPA and DHA and the serious consequences of a deficiency the “The best fats or oils
rather, since they are liquid at room temperature, are those that contain the essential fatty acids so named because
without them we die. Essential fatty acids are polyunsaturated and grouped into
two families, the omega-6 EFAs and the omega-3 EFAs. Seemingly minor differences

metabolic products of omega-6 acids promote inflammation, blood clotting, and
tumor growth, the omega-3 acids act entirely opposite.
Although we do need both omega-3s and omega-6s it is becoming increasingly clear
that an excess of omega-6 fatty acids can have dire consequences. Many
scientists believe that a major reason for the high incidence of heart disease,
hypertension, diabetes, obesity, premature aging, and some forms of cancer is
the profound imbalance between our intake of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
Our ancestors evolved on a diet with a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 of about 1:1.
A massive change in dietary habits over the last few centuries has changed this
ratio to something closer to 20:1 and this spells trouble.” Fish
