"Terminalia bellerica is a tree native to lower elevations in Southeast Asia, whose fruit has been used for centuries in Indian traditional medicine to treat a variety of diseases, particularly diabetes. In 2011, a component of the T. bellerica fruit rind, gallic acid, was shown to promote antidiabetic activity in a study of diabetic rats.12 In that study, the extract lowered blood sugar levels, and, in a surprising finding, the animals’ pancreases showed regeneration of their insulin-producing islet cells. Additional beneficial effects noted in that study included reductions in serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, urea, creatinine (a measure of kidney dysfunction when elevated)—and also uric acid. Gout is a form of arthritis that's characterized by sudden, often severe attacks of pain, redness and tenderness in joints. The cause of gout is an overly high blood level of uric acid. Uric acid is a product formed from the breakdown of purines substances that are found naturally in your body as well as in certain foods. Most of the purines that cause your gout problems come from the food you are eating, so if you cut back on these foods you will not have gout for the most part.

  

FRUCTOSE, HFCS and Table Sugar are Death for Gout

“Women who drank two cans or more of non-diet soda a day, or 12 ounces or more of orange juice a day, were more than twice as likely to develop gout. Women who drank just one soda or 6-ounce glass of juice per day were at 74 percent and 41 percent greater risk, respectively. The culprit appears to be fructose ... [F]ructose increases levels of the chemical uric acid, which causes gout. If you suffer from gout you IMO MUST totally eliminate fructose  HFCS and table sugar in all their forms no if ands or buts. The ingestion of fructose in its many forms appears to be the strongest factor in promoting gout.  

Doctor Richard Johnson, a fructose expert, has developed a program to help people optimize their uric acid levels, and the key step in this program is the complete elimination of fructose.

   

Most Gout Can be Controlled Without Drugs

"Getting more water in your system will dilute the uric acid in the bloodstream and help prevent crystals from forming. Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water a day."   Prevention

"Celery might help treat gout by modulating uric acid levels. Egyptian researchers tested the effects of different plant extracts, including celery seeds, on uric acid levels in rats induced with gout. At the end of the study, rats with gouty arthritis treated with celery seed extracts experienced a 56% reduction in uric acid levels, the highest of all the plant extracts.23 Additional research shows that celery seeds might have potential use in alleviating inflammation and pain associated with gout. A study reported in the journal Phytomedicine revealed that celery seeds can provide dramatic pain relief by suppressing cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme involved in the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cells.24"   Time to Celebrate Celery 

"Drug treatment for gout may cause serious side effects such as breathing difficulties, unusual bleeding, and vomiting, and these drugs may interfere with other medications. In a landmark human trial, scientists demonstrated the effectiveness of Terminalia bellerica, which reduces serum uric acid buildup without reported side effects. This extract appears to inhibit xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of uric acid. "Optimize kidney health. Since under excretion causes 90% of hyperuricemia cases, improving and maintaining kidney function is important. Optimize thyroid function. Hypothyroidism is associated with gout. Lower lead in your body. Chronic exposure has been linked to some cases of gout. Treat sleep apnea. A recent study in Arthritis & Rheuma-tology has found that sleep apnea is an independent risk factor of gout."   Understanding Gout

Almost ALL cases of gout can be controlled long term WITHOUT toxic drugs of any sort. You may have to take drugs for your FIRST painful episode but after that it’s up to YOU to research this topic and avoid the very gouty foods (See Gout Foods List) mostly, the somewhat gouty foods often and the toxic DRUGS forever. Once you learn your limits you can pretty much eat as you please. I have gout. I like a LOT of healthy gouty foods and can eat a limited amount of them MOST of the time. Fructose (See Fructose Protocol) found in all table sugar is known to inhibit the excretion of uric acid and should be avoided by anyone with or without gout ALWAYS.

For gosh sakes don't take Colchicine or Allopurinol more than a week for acute symptoms. They are PURE POISON.

   

Diuretics CAN Cause Gout

"But none of the four doctors who examined the patient seemed aware of "secondary gout" as a medical term, or of its etiology in high uric acid resulting from a diuretic."    Incredible! Why pay these idiots!

If you are taking diuretics or ANY toxic drug please be aware that drug induced gout is always a possibility and OFTEN a reality.

     

Gout Need not Slow YOU Down at all

I have had gout for over fifty years. Since I have been eating two or more tablespoons per day of Celery Seed I have not had a single serious attack of gout in over thirty years. Of course that’s probably also because I have learned to totally avoid all forms of fructose, avoid too many gouty foods (See Gout Foods List) and drink lots of good water.

When I feel a gout attack coming on I back off ALL known gouty foods of any sort for at least a week or two until all symptoms are gone, then a week or two after that. There is a lag time both ways. Ascorbic acid supplements also have to be suspended (See Supplement Suspension Protocol). I make sure to take a double dose of the celery seeds EVERY day. In a week or two all gout symptoms pass. Fish oil will often help relieve gout symptoms.

    

Immediate Relief From an Acute Gout Attack

My brother who has severe gout claims this works every time for him. He CHEWS a half teaspoon of celery seeds twice a day while avoiding all fructose. I have started chewing some of my celery seed also as it seems to insure its more complete digestion.

  

If you suffer from gout you are LUCKY

Uric acid is powerful intercellular Antioxidant as long as it does not exceed the level that allows it to remain OUTSIDE the cell. Uric acid becomes dangerous only when it is so high it is able to enter the cell.

"Excess levels of organic compounds known as purines break down into uric acid—a waste product excreted through urine. When excess levels of uric acid build up in the blood, a person is diagnosed with hyperuricemia. A sufficient amount of purines are naturally made by the body to serve functions in DNA, RNA, and neurotransmission. If you suffer from gout you are LUCKY. Yes lucky. It took me thirty years to appreciate this fact. For thirty years I moaned and groaned “Why me”. Oxalates can present a similar Problem
