Gluten Protocol

  

"Gluten can cause so many problems (55 Known) it would be hard to list them. These include many neurological and psychiatric diseases such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, dementia, migraines, epilepsy, and neuropathy. Gluten has also been linked to autism." Doctor Mark Hyman MD

According to research by Doctor Abram Hoffer, a psychiatrist with a lifetime of work and practice in the field of mental health, many people with schizophrenia have low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and allergies. The most common food allergies found in individuals with schizophrenia are sugars, dairy products and wheat. Hoffer believes orthomolecular treatment is effective in 80 per cent or more of schizophrenia patients and is the best treatment developed so far. An orthomolecular approach to treating schizophrenia looks at a person's individual biochemistry, nutrient deficiency, and diet, as well as allergies and toxins.

Many of us are estimated to be intolerant of Gluten to one degree or another. Gluten-sensitivity is the most prevalent food reaction there is. I suspect ALL of us do not tolerate gluten well but the symptoms are imperceptible for many.

Gluten is the sticky substance in grain that holds a dough containing mass together well. Wheat (See Wheat Protocol), rye, oats and barley contain gluten. Modern grains (See Grain Protocol) have been developed to contain a lot of Gluten. Much of the population has the wrong genetic makeup to deal with gluten. There's a good chance you're gluten sensitive if you're experiencing a slow weight gain that seems unstoppable over the years regardless of how much you exercise (See Exercise Protocol). Gluten contains significant amounts of the excito toxin glutamate proven to kill brain cells. Gluten can cause brain dysfunction by three different mechanisms.

You can get a test (See Medical Testing Protocol) for Gluten sensitivity. Processed (See Processed Foods Protocol) and fast foods (See Fast Foods Protocol) are often loaded with Gluten, yet another reason to avoid these poisons.

Gluten can help cause serious diseases including heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, and many other diseases associated with inflammation. IMO try living without gluten for a couple of months and if this agrees with you forego gluten. This is what I did and I am sure glad.

  

Gluten may be taking the Heat for the Dwarf Wheat Hybrid Species

"In 1944 Borlaug, trained as a plant pathologist, left the U.S. for Mexico to fight stem rust, a fungus that infects wheat, at the invitation of the Rockefeller Foundation, among others. He and his colleagues spent the next decade crossing thousands of strains of wheat from across the globe, ultimately developing a high-yielding, disease resistant variety. Unfortunately, it couldn't stand, heavy with grain. So Borlaug crossed it again with Japanese dwarf wheat to produce a so-called semidwarf wheat,"    Scientific American   Note this LABORIOUS process involving thousands of species of wheat was DESIGNED to give us a GMO like toxic "food" a MAJOR food into our Diet and the diets of the WORLD.

Perhaps much of the problem with modern wheat may not be from gluten but the species of wheat being commonly consumed in America. Please visit the Wheat Protocol to see why I feel we must all avoid the Dwarf Wheat species. Gluten can be a problem for many people but I feel Many of the problems being attributed to gluten may actually be Pygmy Wheat problems.

     

Gluten is often Associated with Detoxification Problems

“Researchers followed a group of people with rheumatoid arthritis. They were put on a gluten-free diet. After just 14 weeks, most of the patients reported dramatic improvements in their symptoms."    Arthritis-and-Celiac-Disease

“Avoiding grains, wheat, and anything else containing gluten may be one more step you can take to cooling the fire in your joints naturally.”   Doctor Al Sears MD

“People with gluten sensitivity, which may comprise 10 percent of the U.S. population or more, experience many of the same symptoms as celiac disease causes, including headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, gas and more, but may be unaware that the culprit triggering these symptoms is wheat and other gluten-containing grains. It's also very possible to have celiac disease and not know it … as researchers state, "in many cases, the disease may be clinically silent despite manifest small bowel mucosal lesions." But the psychological and behavioral symptoms of ADHD are now overlapping so often with those of celiac disease and gluten sensitivity that it's recommended "celiac disease … be included in the ADHD symptom checklist." This suggestion was prompted by a new study, which found people with ADHD who tested positive for celiac disease improved significantly after following a gluten-free diet for at least six months.”    Doctor Joseph Mercola MD

“There is all this blather about Gluten when the Gliadin (rarely if never tested for) is the culprit in many cases.  Gliadin is the protein.  Because Gliadin and Gluten are a polymer, the difference is like that between a steel I-beam (Gliadin) and the rivets (Gluten) that hold it together.  Just because Junior doesn’t respond with IgE and balloon up like a beach ball with anaphylaxis doesn’t mean there is not an immune component involved in a reaction to foods.”   Patrick Jordan

“So, if only one protein could incite an adverse reaction, what would 23,000 different proteins do when presented to the body for processing simultaneously? And what if many of these wheat proteins were disulfide-bonded proteins, that is, “glued” together (Remember, gluten is the Latin word for glue) with the same, sturdy sulfur-based bonds found in human hair and vulcanized rubber – (think bowling ball plastic tough!) – which is to say, impossible for our digestive system to break down fully?* What would happen is that many of these proteins would pass through our intestinal tract, made more permeable by the dual effects of gliadin (zonulin up-reguation) and wheat lectin (the invisible thorn), hence “opening pandora’s bread box” of autoimmunity and systemic inflammation.”   Wheat Contains Not One, But 23K Potentially Harmful Proteins

    

If you are having any detoxification arthritic, or malaise problems IMO seriously consider giving up ALL gluten for a few months to see if it helps. Very often just eliminating dairy (See Dairy Protocol) and gluten will make a HUGE difference. The gluten abrades your intestine wall allowing undigested dairy into your blood stream. All havoc then ensues. Give up sugar and you are home free.

I find I do MUCH better if I totally avoid Gluten. My main symptoms were a runny nose and a constant low-grade headache. I crave bread and could easily eat a half loaf of toast. Of course the next day I paid so I don’t do this anymore.

  

Food Allergies the Big Five

"The best defense against allergies to begin with is a varied and healthful diet from which all refined and stimulating foods sugar, white flour, refined and hydrogenated vegetable oils, refined salt and caffeine have been eliminated and which supplies  the intestinal tract with lactic acid producing bacteria and enzymes on a frequent basis."   Sally Fallon

"Large numbers of people, perhaps even the majority of the population, are adversely affected by gluten on some level. Grains and sugars are inherently pro-inflammatory and will worsen any condition that has chronic inflammation at its root -- and not just inflammation in your gut, but anywhere in your body. Five foods MANY people are allergic to and often have great results when they simply stop all ingestion are  1) GMO 2) sugar 3) dairy and 4) gluten found mostly in 5) wheat. GMO "foods" are actually in a special class all by  themselves; we are ALL allergic to these poisons and must ALL stop eating them.

If you are having any immune, auto-immune or allergy problems IMO you MUST cease eating these five as a part of your solution. The odds are well over 75% one or more of them are at least part of your problem.

No Gluten Grains

Good substitutes for Gluten containing grains are flax (See Flax Seed Protocol) buckwheat (See Buckwheat Protocol), millet (See Millet Protocol), quinoa and brown rice. Yes most of these are actually seeds. Good!

  

Low Gluten Grains

If you look around you can find grains with much lower levels of gluten than modern hybridized wheat. Spelt, barley, oats and rye are good examples. I eat a little spelt and rye when I can find them. I love oats and indulge once and awhile. They now claim a gluten free oats; it does not seem to have gluten problems.

Eating a little caraway seed with a gluten containing grain can make the gluten more digestible for most of us.

Perhaps a way to predigest the Gluten before Baking!

Many Sprouted Grains are Vegetables

“Before the 1950’s, most bread bakeries ran two shifts of workers because the dough was fermented throughout the night with a long and slow process using a culture that contained the lactobacillus bacteria. This slow process was necessary for bread to be properly digested. In the process of making sourdough bread, the bran in the flour is broken down during the long rising time, releasing nutrients into the dough. Only when wheat gluten is properly fermented or sprouted (to learn more about sprouted breads click here) is it healthy for human consumption.  When not, it is potentially one of the most highly allergenic foods we eat. The phytic acid in grain needs to be 90% neutralized in order for the minerals to be absorbed by the human body. When you naturally ferment or sprout bread, you eliminate all phytic acid. The best way to eat grains is as a sprout or grass. Most of the problems are eliminated and the underlying nutrition is made very bio-available.

The above quote offers the hope that we can eat wheat and bread by FIRST fermenting the wheat grains This fermentation MAY solve some of the problems with wheat; perhaps. I intend to explore this. Meanwhile commercial wheat bread prepared with quick yeast is TOXIC.
